ABOUT ME
My name is Marina and I am an integrative CBT/REBT psychotherapist, EMDR practitioner and NCPS Accredited counsellor. I was born in Madrid and that’s where I grew up and qualified as a Psychologist in 2012. I moved to London in 2013 and have made my life here and am completely integrated into British culture. I am totally bilingual – English (native speaker level) and Spanish (mother tongue) and also bicultural, having spent the last 11 years of my life living in London immersed in British culture.
I am based in South London and offer face to face sessions as well as online.
APPROACH
Life can be overwhelming sometimes. During therapy, I will work in supporting you through challenging times and I will teach you skills that will allow you to deal with difficult emotions healthily and more flexibly. Understanding that your thoughts are not necessarily the truth is a truly liberating experience and I will help you to gain emotional responsibility and be more in control of the emotions that may be disturbing you.
I can help you if you find yourself stuck in a rut of unhelpful patterns, struggling with negative emotions, like anxiety, depression or anger, indecision, or self-confidence. I strive to create a safe, confidential, and supportive space where you will be heard without fear of judgment. My ability to enable you to quickly focus on working towards achievable goals and incorporating healthier ways of thinking will greatly improve your approach to overcoming the difficulties and obstacles that life presents.
As everyone experiences negative emotions differently, I work best by tailoring the sessions to your specific needs using a range of different tools and techniques – an integrative approach.

CREATING CHANGE
You may be in a point in your life that you desire change or recognise the need to change but struggle to find a way to do it. Most of therapy is about creating change and I will be supporting you through this process that may involve acceptance, self-reflection, identifying values and goals, identifying self-limiting beliefs...
PRACTICAL TOOLS
During therapy, I will be showing you practical tools that you can start using from the very first session. I consider psychoeducation a key part of therapy, so I will also be sharing with you resources about different therapeutic approaches. This will equip you to gain control over your own development.
SPACE FOR SELF-EXPLORATION AND REFLECTION
Therapy can be a space to explore and reflect. Sometimes problems are not straightforward and we might find ourselves confused with why we are seeking help or what it is that we want to change or address. We might need space to make sense of our experiences and emotions or need the space to grieve some kind of loss.
